A workshop on creativity, comedy and connection

This is a class for any comedy creative, including comedians, sketch writers and performers. We’ll explore comedy at the crossroads of authenticity, catharsis, self discovery, absurdity, taboo and vulnerability. Together we will create a relationship with the muse, dissolve the ego and create really fun stuff! There will be discussions, solo and group generative writing exercises, performing exercises, breakout groups, resource sharing, comedy deconstruction, group and solo brainstorms, work in progress sharings, and being weird and hilarious together. You will emerge with a toolbox of skills and some new material! There will be an opportunity for a performance and sharing work at the end of the class season.

Teacher

Taught by Drea Lusion, circus and variety performer. She owns her own kids’ entertainment business, The Dream Top, she produces www.shbangfest.com and performs regularly in variety shows throughout the Bay Area. She has toured internationally as cofounder, writer and performer with award winning duo, Figmentally, and with Flotsam, (a river circus) along with numerous other touring and local circuses and festivals up and down the west coast.
