Headsup: You might be overachieving at improv. You sometimes try to single-handedly make sure an improv scene is successful. It’s obvious when beginners do this because they destroy a scene trying. But you’re skilled enough to pull it off. The question is…

Do you really want to work that hard… especially at the expense of big, joyful surprises?

The goal of this workshop is to give you tools to identify your scene partner’s play style, and to half your work by choosing a specific and complementary one early in play. This way you can quickly and easily establish a grounded & detailed scene with as little effort as possible.

We’ll also focus on identifying your own play style & strengths to double down on them. You’ll probably get a clearer understanding of specific growth areas you can work on in the future and ALSO an increased confidence in what you’re already good at!

Note: This is an All Out Comedy advanced improv topics workshop. It is NOT recommended for students who have not completed a full series of classes at an established improv theater. This workshop is ideal for you if you’re on a house or indie team that practices regularly or if you have 3+ years of experience and want to get back into improv after a long hiatus.

About the Coach

Adrian Vazquez has been doing improv since 2002 & teaching since 2005. He’s coached over a dozen indie and house teams to give them the tools to attain their skill and show goals. In 2018 he produced “The Felt Experiment,” a well-loved improvised puppet show that ran until February 2020. At the end of this October he will premiere another maximalist experiment at All Out Comedy Theater: a fully-costumed, Dungeons & Dragons -themed improv show with recurring characters.
