Clowning 101: 8 Week Session
Clowning 101 is an 8 week deep dive into all the fun and delight that is clowning! One of the oldest performance art forms! Whether you are new to clowning, an improviser, a seasoned silly goose, or just someone interested in play, this course has something to offer you! We’ll explore play and connection through physicality, improvisation, audience engagement, timing, laughter, musicality, mime work, presence, ensemble work and act creation. Come discover your unique clown, enhance your state of play, and embrace your inner fool!
This Series will conclude with a Showcase. Date: 11/14 at 5pm

About the instructor: April Garro is a Trans Artist, Clown, Improvisor, Comedian, and Scare Actor from the Bay Area. April has performed at SF Sketch Fest, Jokeland, All Out Comedy, The Fox Theatre, Church of Clown and has worked 10 years at Pirates of Emerson, a Haunted House Theme Park in Pleasanton. She has been studying Clown for the past 10 years under a variety of teachers: Ron Campbell, Deanna Fleysher, Dana Merwin, Dan Griffiths, and many more. In 2025, they developed their own one-person clown show; Fun with Loony. “Clowning has been a healing journey for me, allowing exploration of my more playful creative sides”
Requirements: Ages 16+
Dates: Tuesdays 7-9:30pm, September 15-November 10 (20 Hours)
